Description

With this expansion board it is possible to turn the uEmbedded64 C64 computer into a 26-voice Midi music synthesizer (24xSID, 2xFM).

The special difference to other SID synthesizers is the base on which this music synthesizer is based, namely on the original C64 in miniature form of 100x100mm. No emulation is used which has to control the 8 SIDs, but the original, the C64 itself controls the chips. The built-in midi interface with USB connector allows direct connection of a midi keyboard with an USB connector. The normal 5-pin DIN midi jacks are also present.

In addition to the 8 SIDs, the board can be equipped with 2 FM chips, which makes this music synthesizer even more interesting.

The synthesizer is controlled either via Midi, or with the separately available uEmbedded64 display board (a C64 LCD screen and a 16x2 LCD as well as a rotary encoder). Additional cut-outs can be made in the display board to add more rotary encoders. All necessary connections are available in plug-in form on the Midi Music board and can be freely programmed via the Teensy 3.2. So this fascinating synthesizer can be extended more and more, just as you would like to do it yourself.

Further cut-outs can be made in the display board to add more rotary encoders. All necessary connections are available in plug-in form on the board and can be freely programmed via the Teensy 3.2 (really simple via the Arduino IDE). So this fascinating synthesizer can be extended more and more, just as you would like to do it yourself.

As befits a studio synthesizer, there are 10 separate audio outputs for individually audio mixing with an external mixer (8x SID, 2x FM).

In addition, there is a new recording music program for the C64, which allows a very simple operation, unlike the countless trackers, which are all very cumbersome to use. Making music should be easy, and not degenerate into a programming marathon, which is why the new software focuses on intuitive operation.
